This holiday season, Archer and Olive invites you to embark on a creative adventure with our new eCourse, "Unbound Art Calendars." This unique 12-day advent is designed for art lovers and planners alike, guiding you through daily projects to create one-of-a-kind artwork to be used for each month of your 12-month calendar. We’ll share fun, expressive techniques while also showing you how to develop your own color palette so you can enjoy a cohesive and display-worthy finished calendar set.
The UNBOUND Art Calendars Course
How Does it Work?
Each day of the advent, you’ll dive into a new art project to create an abstract piece for a specific month. By the end of the 12 days, you'll have a stunning, customized 12-month calendar that’s as practical as it is beautiful. Perfect for display, adding to your planner or journal and even gifting!
- Perfect for all skill levels! Beginners and seasoned artists alike will enjoy the fun, refreshing techniques used to create aesthetically pleasing art pieces.
- Room for Creativity! Follow the step-by-step instructions exactly or let loose and make it your own!
- Explore fun techniques and supplies! We’ll revisit and build upon several techniques from previous Unbound courses while also pulling in some fresh techniques and materials to explore like inks, paints, pens and more!
- Flexible Start! We’ll give you at least 2 years of calendar template downloads so that you can start when you want and keep creating!
- Great for Sharing! Consider making more than one as you share the gift of looking forward to the year ahead with friends and loved ones. Moreover, the projects would even make a fun creative night with friends or family to all create and plan together!

What is an eCourse?
An eCourse is simply a digital course where you can access all information, video tutorials and images virtually! We’ll provide you with a list of supplies, step-by-step video instructions, outlines, and photos for the various sections and projects. The eCourse also includes a companion guide eBook that provides a snapshot of each course section and project. You'll be sent an email upon purchase with a downloadable eBook and a link to register for the eCourse on Teachable, our educational platform.
This guided eCourse includes:
- Step by step video instruction by our Unbound artist and guide, Lori George
- Virtual eBook companion guide with an overview of each topic
- Resources like supply lists, template downloads
- Lots of encouragement to get you started on your journey!
The UNBOUND Art Calendars Project
What supplies will I need?
An eCourse allows you to utilize the products you already own, or find supplies within your budget and country. We highly recommend watching the getting started videos before purchasing new supplies. To give you an idea of what supplies will be needed, here is what we use in this course:
- A&O CALLIOGRAPHS - Set of 10 of your favorite brush pen colors.
- PAINT: Craft paint is well suited for all of the projects in this course to build a color palette based on your Calliographs colors.
- PAPER - We recommend a mixed media paper for painting and a good weight of cardstock paper for printing on.
- PRINTER: You’ll need a way to print the calendar templates onto cardstock paper: either at home or a print shop.
- SCRAPE TOOLS - We most recommend a specialized Wedge Tool. However, you could also use an old gift or credit card as an alternative.
- INKS: We recommend Archer & Olive inks or subsituting with watercolors.
- PAINT BRUSHES: We recommend having at least one flat brush and one round brush.
- OPTIONAL: Clear adhesive photo corners, frame or display stand for finished calendars, A&O adhesive planner tabs.
- Other basic painting supplies such as scissors, glue stick, cotton swabs/Q-tips, scrap copy paper and low adhesive tape/washi tape.
Before purchasing supplies for the course, we recommend watching the introductory videos where Lori goes over options, pros and cons, and recommendations.

Meet Your Guides
To guide you through your creative journey, our resident artist and educator Lori George will be creating inspiring projects with guided instruction. Joining her for this course, we will also feature a new guest teacher: Natasha Miller.
Lori George, an artist and educator, lives in the Midwest with her husband, four children, and Sunny, her beloved Great Pyrenees.
Creativity has played an important role in Lori’s life by helping her manage stress, anxiety, and grief.
Her hope is that these guided experiences will help you find a voice through expression, peace through the mindfulness of tactile experiences, and provide a much needed break from the day-to-day.
