Hey friends, it’s Sarah from @essjay_florals and I’m so excited to share this quick and easy Acrylograph quote page with you all. It’s been a while since I’ve had some fun with layering Acrylographs and so I wanted to have some fun with the Flourish set. Lately I haven’t been particularly motivated with using my bullet journal, and so I have been taking a break. But I thought that creating a fun quote page is a great way to ease back in if ever you are taking a break or just not feeling it. Alternatively, using a quote page is always great as motivation and inspiration or just as a pretty page filler, whatever the reason you create one I hope you find this tutorial helpful.

Here are the materials you’ll need to paint using the various methods:

• Flourish Acrylograph Collection
• A&O A5 Grayter Good collab notebook (no longer available, but you can find many pretty options here)
• Navy or black paper (I am using a sheet from a notepad from a past subscription box - Ethereal Desert, June 2021)
• Pencil
• White gel pen
• Glue tape (glue stick or double-sided tape will both work fine)

1. Cut Paper to Size

First, I cut my navy paper down to 24 x 36 squares (12x18cm / 4.7x7.1in) which gives you a one square border in an A5 notebook, then stick the paper in. I used glue tape but a glue stick or double-sided tape will work fine.

2. Pencil the Quote

I pencilled in my quote ahead of time due to the lighting and the dark colour of the paper (I thought it best to get this right ahead of time). I think it is important to get your quote pencilled in ahead of time so you can nicely fill the design around it and make it a nice fit.

3. Begin Adding Leaves

First, I outlined the paper with the Orchid Acrylograph. Then I began adding leaves relatively randomly around the border (each style of leaf I created in a different colour).  I went in with one colour at a time and added a few of those leaves, then moved onto the next colour and added those in between and built my way up. I also added flowers at the bottom of the page, as there was more space there, I thought it was nice to just have them featured there.

4. Outline Leaves

Now to make everything pop by outlining your leaves and flowers (I completely forgot to outline my flowers until after I had finished recording, goes to show it’s not necessary, but I did later add them).

5. Outline Text

Now it’s time to outline the text with a white gel pen. I am someone that always struggles with calligraphy so I always use faux calligraphy. All you need to do this is thicken up all your downward strokes and voila you have calligraphy!

6. Add Details

Finally, it’s time to add some details to make the page feel finished and of course that means sparkles, because sparkles always make things just a little extra.

Notes

• I extended some of the leaves outside of the navy boundary, as I thought it added a bit of interest but feel free to keep your leaves contained within if that’s more your style.
• As always, the fun thing here is acrylographs layer so well, so it doesn’t matter if your various leaves overlap!
• When outlining feel free to be more accurate if that’s your style, I like to make my outlines slightly off, I feel it adds a bit of fun to it.
