by Guest Blogger 25 Oct 2020 0 Comments

Hey-lo! Marsha here from Do You Salut! Today we're going go over abstract art cover page ideas. Sometimes creating spreads for your bullet journal can be intimidating. I often find myself doing these elaborate themes. However abstract art can be a quick and easy theme idea. The best part about it is that you can never do it wrong!

Recommended Supplies:

Black cat dot grid and acrylograph pens

5 minute Free Hand:

I like to call the first abstract art cover page : 5 minute free hand. Put the timer on for 5 minutes and just let your hands go free! Don't worry about anything. It doesn't matter if the shapes are funny or the lines or crooked, just take a deep breathe and go!

Abstract Art Cover Page Idea 2:

If you are not ready to jump into the free hand waters have no fear! Using simple shapes like squares, circles, and lines can be a great way to create abstract art in a more structured way.

  • At each corner of the page draw 2 squares one square should be bigger than the other. You can make the squares overlap or have them next to each other.

  • In between the two squares ( in between each end of the page) you can draw a rectangle or any other shape you like.
  • In the center of the page write the name of the month.
  • Acrylotip: Don't forget that the Acrylograph pens are paint markers- you need to wait for them to dry before adding another layer of color. If the paint is still wet the paper can start peeling and can cause fraying on the pen!

Abstract Art Cover Page Idea 3:

The last abstract art cover page idea is inspired by  Dutch abstract artist Piet Mondrian. I'm sure you must have seen some of his art work, Tableau I, 1921. His abstract works uses primary colors, cubes and lines to make simple yet thought provoking art.

    • Recreating Tableau I is simple. The basic shapes are squares and rectangles.

You can use this picture as a reference guide.

Hope these 3 cover page ideas helped inspire you to do listen to whatever art speaks to you. Here's a printable that has an abstract art coloring sheet and an "Art has a voice, let it speak" printable
