How To Create DIY Stickers For Your Journal
I’m Gracie (@graciecreates) from the Archer & Olive ambassador team! As an avid junk journaler, I’m always on the lookout for the perfect stickers to add to my spreads. This is one of my favorite hacks to create my own stickers from scratch - using things I always have around the house!
Supplies you’ll need:
- Archer and Olive Acrylograph pens
- Archer and Olive Gel pens
- Any other fineliner pens or markers you’d like to use
- Blank paper
- wax paper
- Packing tape
- Scissors
- Your journal - I’m using an TN notebook from Archer & Olive
- (Optional) Printable designs - I drew out a printable sheet of sticker outlines that you can print, color, and add tape to instead of drawing your own!

Draw Your Designs
To start this project, we need to draw sticker designs! I like to use an assortment of different pens for this step, like the A+O acrylograph and gel pens with some fineliners and other markers. You can draw anything you’d like, but this project is especially apt for custom stickers - your or a friend’s name, dates, personal doodles, etc. You can use any paper you’d like, but I’d recommend using one that’s on the thicker side (it’s much easier to work with when using the tape and wax paper down the line). Make sure to leave a small amount of space between each doodle so there is room to cut.
Turn them into Stickers
To turn your doodle sheet into stickers, you’re going to need your wax paper, packing tape, and scissors. Start by cutting out each doodle - while doing this, you can leave a border of white space around the edges or cut right up against the design, whatever looks best to you!
Once all of your doodles are cut out, rip off a section of wax paper. Lay it down flat on your table. Then, grab your packing tape and tape down a strip across the wax paper, smoothing it down. Next, place down each of your doodles right side up on top of the tape. Grab one more piece of packing tape and tape all of the doodles down. The layers should be placed: packing tape on top (sticky side down), doodle (face up), then packing tape (sticky side down), then wax paper on bottom.
Cut Them Out
Grab your scissors and cut out each of your stickers. Make sure to leave a small border of tape around each one so the paper is sealed inside.
Voila, you have custom stickers! To add them into your journal, just peel back the wax paper and stick!

Don’t like drawing? I made a set of printable doodles you can use. Print it out, color in the designs & add tape with wax paper like normal. Get the fun of making the stickers without drawing your own designs!
