3 Ways To Create a Summer Bucket List
Hi everyone, it’s Delphine (@delphinesjournal) from the Archer And Olive (@archerandolive) ambassador team. With summer just around the corner, now is the perfect time to start reflecting on things you’d like to do during the warmer months. As a homebody, listing things I would like to do in advance actually helps me to have the experiences I truly want to have. So let’s explore different ways to create a summer bucket list In our bullet journal together!
Supplies
- Archer And Olive Notebook
- Fineliner
- Coloring pens (optional, but look out the Calliographs from Archer and Olive!)
- Stickers (optional)
Before we start…
Before we look at the different ways to include a summer bucket list in your bullet journal, the first step is to actually find out what to include in it. When I was creating my list, I tried to aim for 10 to 15 items. If you struggle with creating yours, try to find a free activity, one that isn’t, something new, an indoor activity, an outdoor one, something that involves food, another to do with friends, with family, your significant other and by yourself. You’ll already have ten items to add to your list!
Here is my personal list, in case you’re wondering:
- Read a book outside;
- Eat ice cream at a local ice cream shop;
- Go to the movies;
- Go on a new hike;
- Make homemade pizzas;
- Bake a new recipe;
- Host a brunch;
- Host a pool party with my friends;
- Game night with my family;
- Try a new restaurant;
- Spend a day at the lake;
- Do a weekend trip to Montréal.
Just so we’re clear - my goal is not to focus on getting every single item checked off. I try to view them as intentions, ideas, and things to fuel my summer instead of strict goals. It’s now time to put all of these ideas in our journal!
1. Doodles
The first fun way to create your summer bucket list in your bullet journal is to create doodles that represent each item. This is such a fun and creative process, since you can go with the drawing style of your choice. I decided to show you two different styles, and this first one uses a fineliner to draw the outline of each doodle, and then the Calliographs pens to add some color. Paired with a bubbly font, I think it gives the page a colorful and bouncy look!

The second doodle style simply uses a thick fineliner for a sketchy approach. If you end up going for a similar style, try to embrace the imperfections and have fun with creating simple illustrations. I personally think it turned out great too, it just depends on your preference!
2. Stickers
If you want a similar look to a spread with doodles, but you’re either not comfortable with drawing or you don’t have the time to draw, might I suggest stickers? They’re a really fun way to add visual interest and color to your spread. And if you don’t have a sticker that corresponds to every single item on your list, that’s totally okay ! Try to disperse them equally throughout your spread, and fill the blanks with the remaining items.

3. Minimalist List
At its core, bullet journaling is a tool to organize your life and thoughts in a personalized way. You don’t have to create elaborate monthly themes or draw doodles if you don’t want to, or if you currently don’t have the time to. This is why the third way to create a summer bucket list is a stripped back, minimalist list. You can simply check the boxes along the summer, and it will be just as functional and satisfying as the other spreads.
