Create A Fall-Proof Cleaning Routine & Checklist
Hello friends! This is Sian or @perceivegrace, on both Instagram & Youtube! In this blog post, I’ll be sharing inspo to create a fall cleaning spread in your bullet journal this year. As always, there are a million ways to journal but here is a spread layout to consider! Let’s make fall cleaning just as much a phrase as spring cleaning.
In this blog post you will find 3-4 fall cleaning categories to consider as you plan your fall cleaning.
Supply List
As always, start with the Archer & Olive if my go-to for journals and dot-grid notebooks. You can use my code SIAN10 to save 10% with Archer & Olive on the tools you need. Below are the materials I often rely on to decorate my journal pages, and this time around we can make them fall themed:
- Papers
- Scrapbook paper
- Dot grid paper
- Stickers
- Washi/Decorative tape
- Lettering
- Calliographs
- Acrylographs
- Stamps
Declutter & Deep Clean from Summer
I always view summer as the most energized and chaotic season, more is happening and we’re most likely doing more things, and more things are coming into our spaces. And with that, I believe fall is the season of letting go. I left everything in the spread fairly open-ended because we all have situational differences (i.e. living in a house versus an apartment) not to mention you may have done some summer cleaning And there are a ton of expert cleaning lists online
Spaces to declutter and deep clean:
- Home
- Kitchen
- Living room
- Bedrooms
- Bathrooms
- Hallways/Entryways
- Outdoor spaces
- Vehicles
Change over the closets
Break out the sweaters and boots!
You’ll notice in the spread I have boxes at the bottom for September, October, and November. I thought it made sense to include space to prioritize your fall cleaning on a monthly basis. In the example of changing over the closets, where I live it usually doesn't feel like sweater weather until mid-October. So, changing the closets might not be something I do until October. Not to mention, you might want to tackle a couple spaces at a time in your decluttering and deep cleaning mission.
Fall Decor
Once some decluttering and deep cleaning has occurred, we can get to the fun stuff, decor!
There is nothing better than being able to open the window on a brisk fall day and light a fall scented candle. Pumpkin, cinnamon, apple…
When I think about fall decor, I think about outfitting my sitting spaces (living room, reading nook, etc.) with a fall accent pillow and chunky throw blanket. I think about swapping out my year round candles for my fall scented candles in storage. I think about bringing my fall mugs to the front of the display in my kitchen cabinets or countertops. I think about buying the latest limited edition fall scented hand soap or air freshener and making my home smell incredible after all that deep cleaning and decluttering.
