Hey guys! It’s Chloe again from @bulletjournalbychloe and I’m showing you today how to turn a box into a desk organiser for your pens. I'll be using the Valentine’s Day box but you can use the sub boxes or a show box. This is super easy to do and I can’t wait to see what you create! Let’s get to it :)

Supplies For Making A Desk Organiser

  • Archer & Olive Box: This can be a sub box or I will be using the Valentine’s Day box
  • Scissors to cut up the bos
  • Sellotape: this is optional. I didn’t need it as it was a nice snug fit
  • Pen for making marks

Okay… go grab your supplies and let’s start making gradients!

Step 1: Cut off the lid of the box

Use your scissors and cut off the lid of the box. Don’t bin it as we will be using this to make the dividers so keep hold of it!

Step 2: Measure and cut the first divider

Measure and cut the first divider

Place the lid inside the box and make a mark using your pen so you know where to cut. It should be directly in half. Make sure you keep the side tabs as you will need these to attack inside the box.

Step 3: Cut two vertical dividers

Cut two vertical dividers

Use the left overs of the lid to create two vertical dividers. I choose two but you can do one or more than two, depending on how many compartments you wish to have. This time you will need to bend the cardboard to create the side tabs. Check out my video to see how I did this.

Step 4: Cut slits to interlock the dividers

Cut slits to interlock the dividers

On the dividers, cut slits from the top to half way. This way you can slide the three dividers into place. Again, make sure to check out my video to see how I did this. Once you have done this, slide the dividers into the box. Secure in place if necessary with sellotape.

And that’s it! You now have a pen organiser for your desk that you have made from scratch. You can decorate this with paint or washi or keep it how it is. I can’t wait to see your recreations.
