How To: Create a Simple Floral Wreath with Acrylographs
Hey friends, it’s Sarah from @essjay_florals and I’m so excited to share this quick and easy Acrylograph wreath with you all! Before we get in to it I want to mention the really fun thing about creating this wreath is that you can layer each element on top as Acrylograph pens allow you to draw right over the top once each of the layers have dried! Pretty cool, right?
Here are the materials you’ll need to recreate it:
- Your journal – I’m using an Archer & Olive A5 Deep Green Dot Grid Notebook
- Pencil
- Something round, a compass or a helix circle maker – I just use a tin or jar
- Jewel Acrylograph markers in size 0.7mm

1. Start with the Base
Pencil in a circle using your round guide. Use a light green pen to trace the circle and draw leaves around the circle. Then use the contrasting dark green to outline the leaves.
2. Start layering up your flowers
Add light pink circles randomly around the wreath, these will be the base for your roses. If needed add a second layer once the first layer of paint is dry to get the colour nice and opaque. Next randomly add branches around the wreath, then draw little flowers using the yellow and peach pens. Finally add little sprigs of leaves using the dark blue pen.
3. Take a Step Back and Assess
At this point I check to see if there are any gaps around the wreath and then add in extra flowers and leaves as needed to balance it.
4. Adding Finishing Touches
Draw the outlines for the rose petals in the burgundy pen (I like to keep this until the end as sometimes when I add other elements they overlap the base slightly and this is a good way to keep the roses as the hero element and nice and clean). Finally add some little berries around the outside using this chance to fill any gaps in. And Ta-da you have yourself a simple but beautiful floral wreath!
Some tips:
- If the paint isn’t flowing smoothly out of the pen, put the lid back on and give it a shake and pump it on some scrap paper until the paint is flowing more freely.
- The fun thing about this wreath is you can use whatever colours you have and still end up with an amazing wreath. So have a play with different colours and see what works for you.
- There are so many different flower and leaf options that you can use to make a striking wreath. I have included just a few possible options.
- Another fun thing about this wreath is you can use these steps to create a border or even small accents.
- Most importantly, have fun with it!
