How To: Yearly Calendar In Your Bullet Journal + Printable!
Hello! Nabaa from @whimsical.doodles here!
With 2020 right around the corner, it's time to set up our Bullet Journals! This will be my 3rd year of bullet journalling and oh what a year it has been! I'm very excited and a little nervous about what the near year will bring but I can't wait!
So to start, I always like to set up a mini calendar and a sort of cover page for each of my journals. This year my focus is on really developing my own unique style. I love kraft paper and the collage-y sort of look my spreads tend to have!
If you'd like to follow along, here are the materials I used to create this spread:
- Archer and Olive A5 Dot Grid Notebook
- Kraft Paper
- Crayola Supertips
- Sakura Gelly Roll - White and Gold
- Black pen
- Ruler, pencil, and eraser
The Archer and Olive A5 Notebooks come with a grid pattern of 26 blocks across and 38 down. To make things easy for you, I've marked how many blocks you need to space out.
Leave one column on the left and 2 on the right. Then leave 4 rows on top and 1 at the bottom. This will form the outer border for your calendar. Mark it with a pencil.
I started with the last 3 months. Leave 6 rows from your marked edge (7 rows in total from the bottom of the page) and mark your headers. I used the Crayola Supertips for each month's header. Pick a single color or choose from a fun palette!
For the next 2 sets of months, you want to leave a gap of 8 rows in between the headers and finally 7 rows for the top 3 months. This is marked below:
Colour in the headers for all months. I then added in the days and dates for each month! And you're done with the calendar! You can, of course, make all of this a whole lot simpler by simply downloading this free calendar printable! Simply print to A5 size and stick it into your journal!
For a little decoration, I stuck on a thin strip of kraft paper on top and wrote in twenty-twenty. Add in some stickers or small decorations around the sides. I drew on some moons and stars and colored them in gold!
For the left side of the spread, I wanted to do a simple layout. I used a piece of kraft paper (again! haha). Using a stencil, I inked in 2020 in white.
To create the "year of..." tag, cut a little rectangular piece of kraft paper, and a smaller piece of white paper. Stick the white piece on top of the kraft paper and write your word of the year!
I embellished the spread with small bits of washi tape and moon sticker! Remember, if you'd like to print out the calendar, you can download the file here: Download 2020 calendar!
And there you have it! What are you most excited about in the new year? What's your word for the year? Let me know in the comments or tag me @whimsical.doodles on Instagram and I'd love to see!
