Moon Phases Monthly Layout

by Adrienne Castleton 24 Jul 2020 0 Comments

Hello friends, Adrienne from @studio80design here to show you my Moon Phases Monthly Layout for July! My bullet journal has been keeping my mind organized these past few months and I love creating my own layouts that are customized to my planning needs! Let's get started!

Materials I used:

Step 1:

I used the bullet tip of a black Tombow Dual Brush Pen to draw squares for the days of the month as well as a notes section. In this notebook, each square is 5x5 with a one square border. It fits just right and leaves a small space for notes at the far right. I drew these boxes freehand since the dots act as guides for the lines, and I really like the look of the imperfect lines!

Step 2

In the empty space in the top left I outlined July with the bullet tip of the Dual Brush Pen. Then I used the MONO Drawing Pen 01 to add a monoline inside the letters.

Step 3

Next, I used my scissors to cut the edge of the page into a tab! Because this notebook is wider, you have more room to cut tabs into the pages without losing valuable real estate. Each month gets it own tab and I use the Tombow Fudenosuke Hard Tip Brush Pen to write in the tab names. This is so helpful and keeps my months and pages organized!

Step 4

This is a 'moon phases' layout, so I had to add the month's moon phases to their dates. Rather than include every night's moon, I chose to keep it simple by only adding in no moons, half moons, and full moons throughout the month! I used the Tombow MONO Drawing Pen 01 to draw these into their corresponding dates.

Step 5

The last step to this moon phases monthly layout is to add a stippled moon design to the top of my pages, with the full moon in the middle and waxing and waning moons going out to the sides. I kept the moons white and used the bullet tip of the black Dual Brush Pen to stipple around each moon.

And that's it for this moon phase monthly layout! I love the black and white layout because I like to color code in my planning. The black and white background helps the planning colors pop more on the page so everything at a glance! If you try out this layout, make sure to tag me @studio80design and @archerandolive so we can see your work!
